Think! relaunches drug driving campaign
Road safety charity Think! is relaunching its ‘Don’t Put Drugs in the Driving Seat’ campaign to warn motorists against the risks of drug driving.
Government figures show that 21,791 people were convicted of drug driving offences in England and Wales in 2025, a number that has been steadily rising over the last 10 years.
Young men are most at risk, with 90% of collisions attributed to drug driving involving younger male drivers and 40% involving those aged between 17 and 29.
The data also found that 41% of young men believe it is OK to drive after taking drugs if they ‘feel fine’, while 51% report knowing someone who drives after using drugs.
Consequences
The ‘Don’t Put Drugs in the Driving Seat’ campaign was first launched last year to highlight the risks and the life-changing consequences of drug driving.
Running throughout July and August 2026, this year’s campaign will be delivered across a range of channels, including cinema, social media, online video and digital platforms.
Further activity is being planned for the winter period, to coincide with when the police step up their enforcement of both drink and drug driving on the roads in the run up to Christmas.
