Mental health advocate celebrated with Fix Auto award

Mental health advocate Carl Norton has been recognised at the Fix Auto National Conference Awards Ceremony for raising awareness within the network.

He received the group’s 2026 Special Recognition Award after training 244 accredited Mental Health First Aiders.

The regional manager, a leading advocate for mental wellbeing, was presented with the award by Ian Pugh, managing director for the Advantage Group of Companies in which Fix Auto UK lies within.

Norton also presented a moving video from the If U Care Share charity, with donations on the evening helping to push the total he and wife Anne has raised for the cause to more than £10,000.

Grateful

He said: “This recognition means so much because it shines a light on something far bigger than me. Every one of those 244 Mental Health First Aiders trained represents another person who can help make a difference when someone is struggling.

“If we can create workplaces where people feel supported, listened to and valued, then we can genuinely save lives. I’m incredibly grateful for the support shown by everyone at the conference and for those who donated to If U Care Share.”

Pugh added: “Carl’s contribution to our network goes far beyond training numbers, although reaching 244 qualified Mental Health First Aiders is an incredible achievement in itself. He has become a powerful advocate for mental health within our group and the wider industry, helping to create more supportive workplaces and encouraging conversations many people find difficult to have.

“The impact of his work is reflected in the lives he has touched, the confidence he has instilled and the culture change he has helped drive.”
