Fix Auto UK marks 200th mental health first aider milestone

Fix Auto UK has completed the successful training of its 200th certified Mental Health First Aider.
The milestone comes almost exactly three years after it launched the programme with the goal of ensuring each Fix Auto UK repair centre has at least two trained individuals who can identify and respond to signs of mental health challenges.
The programme follows the nationally recognised Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) course and was first offered free of charge to all franchise partners and is now also available to supplier partners.
Matthew Hewitt, MET technician at Fix Auto Leeds North, became the 200th team member to become certified after he joined 12 colleagues for a two-day course led by Fix Auto UK’s certified mental health first aid trainer and regional business manager, Carl Norton.
He said:
“Taking part in this course has been a real eye-opener. It’s empowering to know I now have the skills to support a colleague or family member who might be struggling. Mental health awareness and support are more important than ever.”
Fix Auto UK’s commitment to supporting colleagues with mental health issues has been well received. It has been shortlisted in the Best DE&I for Mental Health Strategy category of the 2025 InsideOut Awards, which will be announced later this week.
Ian Pugh, managing director of the Advantage Group of Companies, said: “This achievement is more than just a number, it reflects our unwavering dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive culture. Supporting mental health within our network is not only the right thing to do, it is part of who we are.
“Being shortlisted in the InsideOut Awards alongside such major global brands is a huge honour and a testament to the hard work and commitment of our people. It reinforces the fact that our people-first approach is making a meaningful impact—both within our network and across the industry.”
