Repairer challenges revealed in Fleet Assist survey
A national survey carried out by Fleet Assist has revealed the greatest repairer challenges facing the UK aftermarket today.
It questioned more than 5,200 repairers and over 650 mobile service providers across its network and found that 89% said business overheads and skills were their main concerns.
Falling volumes connected with servicing electric vehicles was also highlighted as a key challenge.
In terms of diversity, 80% said that more than two thirds of their workforce were men, while 70% are aged between 25 and 60.
Meanwhile, 81% of repairers said they expect lead times to remain the same or reduce, with 90% believing repair times would also stay the same as they are now.
Multiple challenges
Nikos Kotrozos, Fleet Assist’s supply chain director, said:
“Our survey has provided a wide-ranging insight into the garage industry and has confirmed the multiple challenges they face now and into the future when managing SMR on behalf of fleet drivers.
“It is important that we recognise how garages are facing up to these challenges and how we can support them.”
