Stellantis has partnered with STEMworks, a nonprofit education organisation, to promote STEM skills learning in schools across the UK.
The initiative is designed to make Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) education more accessible, engaging, and inclusive for young students.
Through targeted workshops, the programme focuses on three distinct groups: primary schools near Stellantis’ sites in Coventry and Ellesmere Port; secondary schools in the same regions where students are beginning to consider future education and career choices; and primary schools across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, and Wiltshire.
Crucially, the partnership also fosters early career exploration, with Stellantis ambassadors visiting classrooms to share their professional journeys and highlight opportunities within STEM fields.
STEM skills shortage
Rob Dorey, STEMworks director of business and outreach said:
“Children need to see what they can become, by introducing engineers from diverse backgrounds to young learners, we help break down barriers and open up possibilities.”
The UK’s STEM skills shortage is estimated to cost the economy £1.5bn annually and nearly half of engineering and tech firms report recruitment challenges due to skills gaps.
