Most popular used car of 2025 revealed
New market analysis from Motors and Cazoo has revealed the most popular used car last year.
It found that the Volkswagen Golf was the most searched for used car in 2025, replacing the Ford Fiesta.
It accounted for three per cent of all online searches, ahead of the Fiesta and Focus, with the top five completed by the BMW 3 Series and Vauxhall Corsa.
Meanwhile, the most viewed electric car was again the Tesla Model 3, which accounted for more than eight per cent of electric car searches. It finished ahead of the Nissan Leaf, the Jaguar I-Pace, the Tesla Model Y, and the Renault Zoe.
In terms of brands, Ford attracted 11% of all searches, followed by Volkswagen, BMW and Audi.
Average used car prices rose three per cent to £18,102, with petrol models up 0.8% but diesels, electrics and hybrids all down, 0.2%, 4.3% and 2.9% respectively.
Electric vehicle values
Lucy Tugby, marketing director of Motors and Cazoo, said: “The ongoing alignment of electric vehicle values saw prices drop below hybrids in December, a trend we first identified in February, making the decision to stock used electric vehicles more attractive for a growing number of car retailers.
“But overall, 2025 proved to be another year of stability for the used car market with demand holding up, despite the ongoing economic challenges faced by many buyers.”
