Leasing sector calls for greater EV technical support
Vehicle manufacturers need to provide greater aftersales support to the leasing sector, according to the latest BVRLA OEM Relationship Survey.
It found that manufacturers have improved their performance in terms of vehicle supply financial support but are failing to meet expectations in terms of technical support, particularly for electric vehicles.
The report assessed 26 vehicle manufacturers on areas such as working relationships, vehicle purchasing, products and services, aftersales support and electric vehicles.
Overall, the net promoter score fell from 3.7 to 2.4 with significant differences between the highest and lowest-performing manufacturers.
Mini topped the survey with an overall score of 8.7 in working relationships and service, followed closely by BMW, while BYD, Kia and Volvo scored 8.2 in vehicle purchasing and Volkswagen and Toyota topped the financial support category with scores of 8.4.
Relationships
BVRLA chief executive, Toby Poston, said: “This survey is a vital health check on one of the sector’s most important relationships. It shows where OEMs are delivering strongly for leasing companies, but also where support needs to keep pace with a fast-changing market.
“Confidence depends on the practical details: reliable supply, clear communication, strong aftersales support and credible EV expertise. The report gives manufacturers a clear evidence base to build on.”
