Axanzo to be new name of AkzoNobel and Axalta merger

AkzoNobel and Axalta Coating Systems have announced the combined company following their proposed merger will be called Axanzo.

The planned merger was first announced in November 2025. It is expected to create cost synergies of £456m, primarily from procurement, selling, general and administrative efficiencies, footprint optimisation and improved supply chain management.

It will have a global footprint of 173 manufacturing sites and 91 R&D facilities, supported by approximately 4,200 research fellows, scientists and engineers, and about 3,200 granted and pending patent applications.

Both AkzoNobel and Axalta will continue to operate as independent companies until closing, which is expected early next year.

AkzoNobel CEO, Greg Poux-Guillaume, who will also be CEO of the new organisation, said: “We’re excited to announce the new name for our combined company. Axanzo signals a bold new start for a company which will be stronger in every way. It’s a launchpad for going further and faster than we ever could alone, embodying the pace and power to innovate, the strength to deliver and the excellence to succeed.”

Chris Villavarayan, CEO of Axalta, who will be deputy CEO of the combined company, added: “Axanzo will continuously reset the standard of what coatings can do. The new name perfectly captures our shared ambition to push boundaries, honouring our heritage and offering an exciting glimpse of what’s to come.”
