Categories include Automotive Body Repair, Automotive Refinishing, Light Vehicle Technology, and Heavy Vehicle Technology, with 24 automotive apprentices from across the country earning their places at the finals during National Qualifier events in May and June.
Car-O-Liner is again supporting the competition as a global partner, supplying equipment and training to the competitors in the Body Repair category. It will also contribute to the judging panel.
New talent
Managing director Stuart Alexander said: “Another year of the Skills competition brings another group of enthusiastic and talented individuals. Over the years, it has been a pleasure to watch these competitors grow throughout their training and secure strong futures within the industry.
“At a time when our sector is crying out for new talent to drive advancements in electric, aluminium, and autonomous vehicle technologies, it is vital that we continue to support and nurture these emerging professionals to safeguard the future.”
Eligible finalists could go on to represent the UK on the global stage at next year’s WorldSkills International in Shanghai, joining five 2024 IMI Skills Competitions alumni already named as Squad UK members.
To be eligible, they must achieve the required score and be aged 22 or younger in the year of the international finals.
