Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme now live

The Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme, developed to raise the bar for commercial vehicle maintenance by rating workshops on staff skills and facilities, is now live.
The MPRS scheme is the result of a collaboration between 11 organisations, including the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, SMMT, RHA, DVSA, DfT, BVRLA and NFDA.
It is divided into five levels, each indicating the breadth and scale of facilities and workforce.
A ‘Qualified’ rating indicates that basic tools, equipment, and staff competencies are in place to meet minimum industry compliance standards, while the advanced ‘Platinum’ level is suited for operators at the cutting edge of technology and practices. Other levels include Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Workshops can apply for their rating through the MPRS portal, with assessments based on a comprehensive audit of staff knowledge and facilities
Sue Robinson, chief executive of the NFDA, said: “The Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme marks a significant milestone for our industry. For too long, there has been a lack of clarity around workshop standards and the MPRS will change that.
“It addresses the long-standing lack of clarity around workshop standards by introducing a clear, practical framework that meets the real needs of modern maintenance – for both operators and providers.”
