Deadline looming for WorldSkills registrations

Registrations for the 2023 WorldSkills UK IMI Skills Competitions close in less than two weeks, on 24 March.

Once registered, competitors will be invited to complete the entry stage which this year is being delivered through an eLearning platform. Successful competitors will then progress to the National Qualifiers, which will take place from the week commencing the 15 May to week ending the 23 June.

The top six competitors in each skill area will then be invited to compete in the UK National Finals in November.

Meanwhile, between the National Qualifiers and the UK National Finals individuals in each skill area will be given a focused training plan based on their scores in the qualifiers. Further, competitors will be invited to attend a Master Class training day with some of the key sponsors.

Joanna Hollingdale, careers and student membership manager of the IMI, said: “It is vital that we celebrate the talent that exists within our sector – and which could eventually be showcased in the World Skills Competition later this year. As such, we are urging employers and colleges to nominate their best trainees and apprentices as soon as possible. Entry is free, and we hope trainers will look at their current cohort of students and apprentices and put forward their top talent for national and international recognition.”
