BCA relaunches vehicle Appraisal Training

BCA has relaunched its vehicle Appraisal Training programme with additional new content for 2023.

Aimed at retail dealer groups and independent dealers, the course empowers used car teams to carry out accurate, informed and standardised appraisals, reducing grade variance and improving the opportunity to increase profitability on the part-exchange deal.

BCA’s Appraisal Training session delivers a hands-on learning experience with plenty of opportunity to engage and ask questions of BCA’s expert trainers.

Up to 15 delegates per session will be guided through internal and external vehicle appraisals in detail, paying close attention to defects and faults and how they can affect grading and valuation. Training sessions are delivered by BCA trainers who can travel to any mainland UK location to deliver the course in person – either onsite at the dealership or at selected BCA locations nationwide – or alternatively by Microsoft Teams.

The course runs all year round and is available Monday to Friday with morning or afternoon sessions to suit the customer’s requirements.

BCA COO Stuart Pearson said: “The BCA Appraisal Training courses are unique within the motor industry, delivering a hands-on, tried and tested approach to managing the part-exchange process through a standardised interior and exterior vehicle inspection, while identifying basic vehicle faults and how they impact the vehicle valuation. Attendees also learn how to check vehicle authenticity and provenance and understand how this can impact vehicle valuation.

“The course covers basic refurbishment methods and current government requirements for road legal vehicles – useful background knowledge for anybody involved in the vehicle appraisal and part-exchange process.”
