Drivers hit by rising fuel costs

More than half (51%) of UK drivers have noticed a difference in the cost of fuel this December.

According to the Confused.com fuel price index, the cost of petrol and diesel is almost 29p more expensive per litre now than at the beginning of the year.

People are expecting to travel roughly 50 miles over the holidays. Top tips to reduce fuel consumption include servicing your car regularly, removing any excess weight, ensure tyre pressures are correct and to avoid idling your engine.

Car insurance expert Alex Kindred said: “Christmas is an already expensive time of year, and with 51% of UK drivers seeing a noticeable difference in fuel costs this past month, the cost of travelling over the festive period could be more expensive than anticipated.”
