Spanesi celebrates 50th birthday

IBIS CEO Jason Moseley was in Italy recently to help company founder Orazio Spanesi celebrate the 50th birthday of his international business.

Orazio started work in a bodyshop aged just 14, when his love for the industry was born. Just 11 years later he established Spanesi as a manufacturing company.

International expansion followed with a plant in China, a site in Chicago, USA, as well as facilities in Thailand.

He said, ‘If I got to where I am today, it is because I once imagined a different life. To go far you need a dream.’

His in-depth knowledge of the needs of a bodyshop gave Orazio an edge and his ‘love for the tool’, as he calls it, was fundamental in helping Spanesi establish its world-class reputation.

But Orazio insists he didn’t do it all himself, and is quick to acknowledge the support he’s had from his family and colleagues in building Spanesi into the brand it is today.

Jason said, ‘It was a real pleasure to attend the Spanesi 50th anniversary, celebrating the achievements with Orazio Spanesi, its founder. The event took place at the Spanesi factory, near Padua, where we were shown all the latest equipment technology solutions that the business has invested in, focusing on quality Italian design and effective functionality.’

Jason continued, ‘There has never been a more important time to have the specific and correct equipment to repair technology advanced motor vehicles. There are no short cuts to this and the philosophy that Orazio Spanesi had 50 years ago is still very much alive today.

‘The balance of having skilled people, the correct technical information, quality parts and finally the dedicated equipment are the key components to a safe and quality repair.

‘But with and array of vehicle manufacturer approvals it is clear that Spanesi is planning long term.’
