Outlander drives Mitsubishi upturn

Mitsubishi Motors has registered a 22% upturn in UK sales for the financial year.

The brand reported sales of passenger vehicles totalling 20,675 for the period. Sales of vehicles in the Mitsubishi commercial vehicle range contributed a further 10,600 sales bringing the brand’s total vehicle sales to 31,275 for the period, an increase of 15% over the previous year and the highest number of registrations for the company in 12 years.

The Mitsubishi Outlander was the UK’s best-selling plug-n hybrid electric vehicle with sales totalling 1,116 units for the month of March and 8,278 for the full financial year. That represented a 19% share of the UK’s total PHEV market, making it not only the segment’s best-seller but also the most popular plug-in vehicle of any kind in the UK.

Toby Marshall, director of sales and marketing, said, ‘We are happy to have had a strong March and a strong close to the financial year. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and L200 pick-up are two very important models for us and it’s very pleasing to see them performing so well.’
