‘I was shocked to win’

Auto Windscreens’ technician Mike Duddridge has been named the company’s 2019 ‘Clearly the Best’ champion, winning £1,000 and the coveted ‘BEST TEC’ (BE57 TEC) number plate.

Mike was one of four technicians to participate in the competition finale, when all the contestants were tasked with completing a glass repair, before replacing broken door glass and a windscreen.

Tony Green, Auto Windscreens’ technical and innovation manager, said, ‘Mike excelled throughout the heats and demonstrated fantastic skills and processes. It was a close competition and we’re incredibly proud of the high work standards, practical expertise and industry knowledge all the challengers displayed.

‘We believe we have the best technicians in the industry and these competitors are a testament to our efforts in developing our staff across the UK and bringing a professional, quality service to every customer. Clearly the Best is a fantastic way for us to showcase the skill level within Auto Windscreens.’

Mike joins the likes of 2018 world champion fitter, Steve Abrahams, and last year’s ‘Clearly the Best’ winner, Tom Barker.

He said, ‘Having so many people stood watching you while you are repairing and replacing glass really brings on the nerves but I tried to stay focused and felt confident. I was still shocked to win though as Alex, Jim and Jonathan are all amazing technicians.’
