Ford set to announce Bridgend closure

Ford is expected to announce today it will close its Bridgend plant in Wales, putting up to 1,700 jobs under threat.
It has called a meeting of Union members, when it’s expected to confirm the news.
Ford has been manufacturing engines for four decades. Alongside the direct workforce employed, hundreds more are indirectly employed in the supply chain.
GMB regional organiser Jeff Beck said, ‘If our worst fears are confirmed, it will mean disaster for both our members in Bridgend and the community at large.’
