Enterprise five-a-side tournament supports Alzheimer’s Society

Enterprise Rent-A-car held its inaugural Enterprise five-a-side tournament, a charity football match in support of Insurance United Against Dementia on Thursday, 9 May. To date, nearly £20,000 has been raised for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Insurance United Against Dementia is an Alzheimer’s Society movement created and championed by leaders from across the insurance sector, which aims to raise £10m to fund vital research to tackle dementia, the world’s leading cause of death.

The event saw players, supporters, colleagues and friends from throughout the industry come together for a brilliant cause, with some organisations donating hundreds of pounds.

Enterprise five-a-side tournament

Sixteen teams competed in the Enterprise five-a-side tournament, with 150 players and supporters from across the insurance and accident repair industry gathering at Goals in Birmingham on a hot and sunny day to show off their football skills and raise money for a great cause. They played more than 70 matches, scoring 264 goals.

Knockout rounds whittled the teams down to an exciting final between Chris Brown, representing Enterprise’s Northwest group, up against Olly Chamber’s team of customers and partners of Enterprise’s technology arm Entegral. Team Brown were the winners of the well-contested final, taking the Cup back to the Northwest.

Stuart Sandell, assistant vice-president for replacement sales at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, said:

“It was a very exciting and enjoyable day, and I had no idea there was so much football talent in the industry. I want to say a huge thank you to all our customers, colleagues, business partners and the team from Insurers United Against Dementia, Alzheimer’s Society and Enterprise who made this day happen.

“It was fantastic to see so many people take time out of their very busy lives to support this important cause. It’s a proud moment and I am sure this is going to become an annual fixture in the calendar!”

Steve Cross, group head of claims at Markerstudy, said:

“This was a great opportunity to come together as an industry to fundraise for the fight against an illness that affects so many people. As an industry we have strength in numbers and events like this show what we can achieve when we work together. It was also a lot of fun and a great way to network with colleagues.”

“Events like Enterprise’s Five-A-Side tournament enable us to provide help and hope to people living with dementia and their loved ones.  We had a great time on what was a very hot and sunny day! Thank you to everyone who helped organise and support this event, your efforts are much appreciated.”
