Fix Auto MD scoops major award

Fix Auto Dagenham’s managing director Chris Oliver has been awarded the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce for his achievements as a local businessman over the last 30 years.

The Essex repairer was also named as the Employer of the Year during the annual Barking and Dagenham Business Awards held at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club.

Prior to presenting Chris with his honour, Jamie Banks, acting president of the Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce said, ‘I am delighted to be able to present this award to an individual who has done so much for this borough and indeed Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce.

‘Chris has for more than 30 years been part of the Barking and Dagenham community. During a period of raising two daughters alongside his wife and running his own business, he found time to stand as a local councillor – a position he held for 12 years. He has built up a highly-regarded reputation within the UK collision repair sector, particularly in taking and driving initiatives to help the industry as a whole. He was instrumental in developing the Multi-skilled Vehicle Body Apprenticeship and the AutoRaise Charity which has helped more than 100 young people complete apprenticeships in vehicle body repairs.

‘Recognised as innovators within their own business sector, Chris and his partners were among the early adopters of environmentally friendly products like water-based paints, were among the first repair centres in Britain to be recognised by British Standards and was the first Fix Auto UK franchisee of which there are now more than 100 in the collective organisation. It gives me great pleasure on behalf of all at the Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce to present this years’ Lifetime Achievement Award to Chris.’

Paul Cunningham, commercial director for Fix Auto Dagenham added, ‘As a local business we truly value the annual awards event held by our regional Chamber of Commerce and we have been extremely fortunate over the years to be honoured on numerous occasions. Being named as the local Employer of the Year on the same evening that Chris’s achievements were recognised by our business community certainly tops them all.’
