About 700,000 car drivers could be liable to pay the daily £12.50 Ultra-Low Emission Zone when the scheme is expanded in August. New data has found that speeding on UKs most dangerous roads has increased significantly. Potholes have been blamed for a 23% rise in breakdowns attended by RAC patrols in the last three months of 2022. Rapid price rises at rapid charge points

Rising energy costs means it now costs 50% more for drivers to charge their vehicles at public rapid and ultra-rapid charge points than it did last May. Fuel prices fell 9p a litre in December, but the RAC believes the decreases do not reflect much lower wholesale prices. Data from RAC Fuel Watch has found that supermarkets are currently enjoying margins of about 15p a litre on both petrol and diesel.
