Average used van values slide in second quarter

Average used van values fell in the second quarter of the year, according to the latest data from Manheim Auction Services.

It found that average selling prices reduced from £9,505 in the first quarter to £8,489 in the second quarter, a decrease of almost 11%.

However, this coincided with an increase in average vehicle age and mileage with days-to-sale holding steady at approximately 11 days.

The data also revealed that electric van volumes increased by six per cent quarter-on-quarter and 42% year-on-year, with first-time conversion rates rising from 69.6% to 82.2% and average days-to-sell falling from 19.8 to 14.8.

Average electric van selling prices remained above £9,500, with average mileage between 19,000 and 23,000 miles.

Selective market

Matthew Davock, commercial vehicles director at Manheim UK, said: “The used van market started 2026 at a significant pace, while the second quarter settled into a more natural rhythm. It is important to understand that what we’ve seen in quarter two isn’t a weakening market, but a more selective one.

“Buyers are still highly active and their demand remains strong, but they are taking more time to evaluate stock and are placing greater emphasis on value.”
