Repairers jailed for motor fraud following IFED investigation

Two men have been found guilty of motor fraud after securing funds to repair vehicles damaged during collisions that were either induced or didn’t happen.

Operating out of Tyre Boys, Kamlesh Vadukul and Raju Patel obtained a credit agreement from Accident Credit Group (ACG).

ACG funded 39 repairs in 2015 and 2016 valued at £275,548.84.

However, insurers flagged the claims as fraudulent and refused to pay the invoices, which led to an investigation by the City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).

Custodial sentences

Detective chief inspector Nik Jethwa said: “These two individuals deliberately targeted an innocent business in an attempt to exploit it for financial gain, but have ultimately paid the price for their actions. They have now received substantial custodial sentences and their criminal activity was disrupted before further harm could be caused.

“The confiscation order marks a significant result, ensuring criminally obtained funds are recovered and returned to those affected. IFED will continue to take decisive action against economic crime, disrupt offenders and pursue every opportunity to secure justice for victims.”

Vadukul and Patel were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to a total of nine years.
