Enterprise on target for Insurance United Against Dementia

Enterprise Rent-A-Car raised more than £150,000 for Insurance United Against Dementia during a charity football match.

The game took place on 7 May at Macclesfield FC Stadium, with more than 250 supporters watching Stu Sandell’s Blues take on Donna Scully’s Yellows.

Donations came from more than 50 organisations and many other individuals, with Enterprise Mobility making a £25,000 contribution.

Meanwhile, each shirt featured the number three as a shocking reminder that every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia.

Vital cause

Stuart Sandell, Blues coach and assistant vice president for sales at Enterprise, said: “Football has a way of bringing communities together, whether through the National League, which Enterprise proudly sponsors, or as demonstrated here, across an entire industry.

“I’d like to thank all our customers, colleagues, business partners and the teams from Insurance United Against Dementia and Alzheimer’s Society who made this day such a success. The enthusiasm shown by everyone involved and the buzz around the sector was and continues to be incredible and of course helped raise a significant sum for a truly vital cause.”

Incredible support

Donna Scully, owner and director of Carpenters Group, added: “As anyone who knows me will confirm, I believe in the power of sport, and specifically football, as a power for good. Sadly, almost everyone knows someone affected by dementia; it is a cruel and unforgiving disease.

“This was such a brilliant opportunity to come together as an industry and fundraise while having a great time. We’re strongest when we work together, and this event was a great example of what we can achieve when we do.”

Chris Lay, chair of Insurance United Against Dementia, concluded:

“We are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Thanks to the incredible support and energy of everyone involved, we’ve raised a fantastic sum that will help to accelerate progress in research and innovation, and provide services to prevent crisis, all while enjoying a great day of football.”

The match finished 11-2 in favour of the yellows, but charity was the real winner. Anyone still wishing to support the cause can do so here.
