Men pay double in speeding fines
Male drivers are paying more than double on speeding fines than women, according to new research.
The new data found that male UK motorists pay an average of £804 on speeding fines while women pay an average of £324.
This is according to OOONO, the company behind the CO-DRIVER road-safety device, which also found that men are more likely than women to check their phones while driving (43% to 26%), more likely to be distracted by in-car infotainment systems (36% to 15%), and more likely to find back-seat passengers distracting (21% to 16%).
However, women are more likely to find oncoming headlights distracting (57% to 48%), and less comfortable driving at night (47% to 33%), in heavy rain (55% to 45%), and in snow (52% to 44%).
Sean Morris, OOONO’s UK chief operating officer, said:
“We see from our research that men drive faster and take more risks, probably due to over confidence. That confidence can be misplaced, and the fines speak for themselves.”
