Drivers worried tech is raising vehicle repair costs
Nearly three quarters of UK motorists are worried that the amount of technology built into modern cars is making vehicle repair costs too high.
Meanwhile, 64% said they would prefer to give up the latest tech for a more affordable vehicle.
However, everyday tools like GPS and Bluetooth are still considered must-haves, while nearly half (47%) prefer vehicles with ADAS features that improve road safety.
This was revealed in a new survey on evolving driving habits and attitudes carried out by Enterprise Mobility. The report, On the Move, examined shifting consumer perceptions and provided new data on attitudes towards new technologies such as electric vehicles, hybrids, and autonomous vehicles.

It found that more than half of all drivers (54%) believe modern cars contain too much technology while 74% are worried that this increased complexity is raising repair costs.
It also found that younger drivers are more open to electric and hybrid vehicles, 10% of Gen Z and Millennial drivers likely to own an electric car and eight per cent likely to own a hybrid.
This compares to just three per cent of older drivers.
In terms of autonomous vehicles, fewer than one in five drivers support full automation, although 65% of those in favour say it will make travel easier for people who can’t or don’t drive and 46% say it will allow time to do other things during a car journey.
