Average repair costs up seven per cent

New data has revealed that average repair costs have risen by seven per cent in the last year, with drivers now taking longer to approve repairs.

According to FixMyCar’s Making Tracks Report 2025, average repair quotes have gone up by £18 in the last 12 months, with clutch replacements up by £50 compared to 2024.

The report, which includes detailed breakdowns by repair type and regional analysis, has also found that the proportion of customers accepting quotes within 24 hours has dropped by 2.4% as motorists battle with a continued cost-of-living crisis.

Despite financial pressures, only 29% of customers prioritise price with trust revealed as the deciding factor when selecting a repairer.

Amanda Webb, CEO at FixMyCar, said: “The Making Tracks Report provides a snapshot of what’s really happening across the industry. We’re proud to be able to provide this insight for the aftermarket as a whole and for independent garages looking to grow their business in this tough market.

“While the current climate is undoubtedly challenging, the data highlights a clear opportunity: drivers are prioritising trust over price. For garages that invest in building a strong reputation in their local area, this presents a significant competitive advantage.”
