NFDA marks Results Day with Drive My Career

The National Franchised Dealers Association is marking Results Day by encouraging students to consider a career in automotive through its Drive My Career initiative.

Drive My Career was launched in 2018 to debunk the myths around recruiting apprentices while also highlighting the varied careers available in the automotive industry.

Sue Robinson, chief executive of the NFDA, said:Results Day can be a turning point for many young people, and whatever your results, there is a path to success. The automotive sector is dynamic, future-focused, and offers opportunities for all skill sets. Whether you want to work hands-on with cutting-edge electric vehicles, in customer service, marketing, or business operations.

“With nearly half a million people employed in the automotive retail sector, our members provide accessible, high-quality roles that don’t always require a university degree.

“It’s an industry where you can develop skills and be part of a sector undergoing exciting change with sustainability and innovation at its core.”

Career fairs

Later this year, Drive My Career will be participating in two major careers fairs, giving students and jobseekers the chance to explore opportunities and speak directly to employers: Birmingham Careers Fair in September and London Careers Fair in November.

Robinson said: “These events are the perfect chance to explore options, ask questions, and discover the variety of roles available in automotive retail. Whether you have just opened your results envelope or are still figuring out your next move, our sector is evolving and needs fresh talent to keep moving forward.

She concluded:

“NFDA’s employment initiative, Drive My Career, is continually working to highlight attractive opportunities to young jobseekers. We want to help you discover roles that fit your skills and interests and give you a taste of what a career in automotive could offer.”
