Pre-book MOTs to ease workshop peaks
New research has found that 60% of motorists would prefer to pre-book MOTs up to a month ahead of its due date.
Marketing Delivery surveyed 500 dealer customers and found that nearly two thirds agreed that they would like to ‘book my MOT up to a month earlier if I could still keep the original renewal schedule.’
Nearly eight in 10 (78%) were aware they could pre-book MOTs so while still maintaining their original renewal schedule, but only 50% of 18 to 24-year-olds were aware of this option.
Pre-scheduling MOTs could help workshops manage volumes and minimise peaks and troughs in workloads.
Pre-book MOTs
Marketing Delivery is now running ‘MOT pull forward’ campaigns, inviting customers with MOTs due in August or September to book early.
Charlotte Murray, managing director at Marketing Delivery, said: “There is a very receptive market for these ‘MOT pull forward’ campaigns, and workshops can introduce time-limited incentives to further maximise response rates, for example by offering price promises on consumables such as tyres and wiper blades.
“Our VoiceBox platform can automatically identify those customers who are due an MOT and deliver a tailored message encouraging them to make an earlier booking.”
