PPG unveils Mix’nShake to cut waste and save time
PPG has introduced Mix‘nShake, an automated stirring solution to improve paint consistency, reduce waste and save time.
Mix‘nShake eliminates the need for manual stirring which can improve accuracy, reduce reworks and increase productive work hours for paint technicians by up to six per cent.
The system, which features pre-programmed settings for primers, basecoats and clearcoats, delivers a fully homogenized, ready-to-spray paint mix in less than 90 seconds through an automated stirring device combined with a notched cup that attaches directly to the spraygun.
Alban d’Epenoux, PPG global marketing director, Automotive Refinish, said: “The LINQ digital ecosystem and MOONWALK automated mixing system have transformed colour identification and paint mixing in the refinish industry, but the repetitive final step of stirring has remained largely unchanged.
“The PPG Mix‘n’Shake system addresses this, ensuring that painters achieve an accurate mix every time without the inefficiencies and inconsistencies of manual stirring, ultimately freeing up time for higher value tasks.”

Efficiency
d’Epenoux added: “We found that bodyshops that typically do six repairs per day can save up to 16 working days a year with Mix’n’Shake. The system also reduces the cost of consumable waste such as stirring sticks, mixing cups, strainers, and other disposables by up to 10%.”
