Used car values hold steady at BCA

BCA sells record number of EVs

Used car values remained stable from November to December, according to the latest data released by BCA.

It reported average used car prices of £7,215 in December compared to November’s figure of £7,240.

Meanwhile, EV sales continued to be the strongest performing fuel type last month, as they were throughout 2025, resulting in a record week of sales during the month.

Stuart Pearson, BCA COO UK, said: “The first sales in December suggested that Christmas may have arrived early, however activity improved as the month rolled on with a number of retailers getting more focussed on readying their stock levels for January’s uplift.

“While much of the remarketing industry suspended operations across the festive period, it’s been busy across BCA’s network, ensuring that our buyer and seller customers are in the best place possible for the New Year.”

Optimism

Pearson added: “Whilst it’s still early in the month, it’s fair to say that there’s a level of optimism from our customers, with anecdotal feedback suggesting that retail activity has been ahead of last year across the Christmas period.”

“Buyer engagement with BCA’s programme looks healthy through all channels and, outside of some pressure on nearly new stock, the market remains far from saturated which should keep values stable and interest levels high.

“While there are never any guarantees as to which way the market will move, the early signs in 2026 are promising.”
