iRG Repair Group unveils SMART repair service

iRG Repair Group has announced it has launched a mobile SMART repair operation.

i-Direct name will enable cosmetic damage including scratches, dents, scuffs and even small panel replacement to be conveniently rectified at a customer location, minimising the time that they are without the vehicle.

The company has acquired and kitted out two Peugeot Boxer LWB vans to carry out repairs on up to three panels on vehicles ranging from cars up to vans. Equipment includes a pair of portable spraybooths with built-in extraction for car and commercial vehicle applications, which can be inflated at a customer’s premises in a matter of minutes, as well as dent-pulling kit.

Meanwhile, specialist ATA-trained technicians have been recruited to deliver the service, which aims to complete between 10 to 15 jobs per van per week.

Lee Wallbank, iRG Repair Group managing director, said: “We’ve been investigating the feasibility of the direct-to-you concept for some time and recent data showed that 19% of jobs coming through our bodyshops required zero parts and could be completed without coming to site.

“We felt that the time was right to introduce a mobile repair service to enhance the customer journey as an option for our fleet and trade clients as well as those with smaller insurance claims who could benefit from the quicker repair process.

“Assessing photos supplied, triage will be undertaken via our call centre and our team will then decide if the job is suitable for mobile repair or not.

“We’ve had some hugely positive reaction to the i-Direct venture from customers we’ve already spoken to. It is a service that we’re extremely excited to roll out and one which we believe really does have the potential to grow with the possibility of an expanded i-Direct fleet in the future.”
