Fix Auto UK is opening its doors to give the public a behind-the-scenes look at how vehicles are repaired.
The group is inviting apprentices, parents, teachers and local communities to visit its national network of repair sites in an effort to reframe the way in which the vehicle repair sector is perceived.
‘Think you know car repair? Think again’
It will showcase the industry as highly advanced and technology-driven sector, revealing the innovations taking place within modern workshops, the structured training programmes available, and the benefits of working in a modern, inclusive environment.
Launched under the banner, ‘Think you know car repair? Think again’, the initiative is intended to address the chronic skills shortage impacting the sector by appealing to a new generation of emerging talent.
Those taking part will have the opportunity to meet apprentices and experienced team members, experience the technology and processes behind modern vehicle repair, learn about the varied career pathways on offer, and understand how the sector is evolving to meet the demands of increasingly complex vehicles.
Fix Auto opens doors to the public
Ian Pugh, managing director of the Advantage Group of Companies which Fix Auto UK sits within, said as Fix Auto opens doors:
“Like so many I started my own career as a YTS trainee, so I’ve seen first-hand the power this industry has to be able to shape lives, build confidence and develop future leaders. What hasn’t always been visible is just how skilled, technical and forward-thinking modern vehicle repair has become.
“By opening our doors nationwide, we want to challenge outdated perceptions and demonstrate the breadth of opportunity available. Just as importantly, we want to reinforce the professionalism, standards and trust that define the sector today.
“This is an industry we’re incredibly proud to lead, and one that offers real careers for people who are curious, ambitious and eager to learn,” he added.
