Express Bodyworks Group has stated that a nearby fire has not damaged its Wolverhampton South site and all customer vehicles have been removed.
Managing director Kieran Perks said the fire began at a nearby business early on Wednesday morning and is ongoing, limiting access to the repair centre.
However, emergency services are on site and Express Bodyworks Group colleagues reacted quickly to remove all customer contents and cars from the location before they were damaged.
Perks said: “The fire did not originate at our Wolverhampton South accident repair facility or any other vehicle repair facility. It began at a neighbouring furniture store and subsequently has affected a large number of surrounding businesses and premises.
“Fire crews from all across the West Midlands were deployed to safeguard nearby buildings and contain the spread of the fire. Emergency services remain on site, and we are advised that the incident is likely to continue into the evening.
“I want to be absolutely clear and unequivocal on the following points: Our Express Bodyworks Wolverhampton South facility has not been damaged by the fire outbreak, however as the spread continues there is always a possibility; the building is currently being protected by a substantial separating wall, and there has been no fire damage to our premises; all Express Bodyworks property and, most importantly, all customer vehicles and belongings are completely safe and away from the scene.”
Proactive response
He continued: “All contents and customer vehicles were successfully removed from our premises. This proactive response ensured that there was no risk to customer assets, which remain secure.
“I want to reassure our customers, partners, and the wider community that safety, transparency, and the protection of customer property are always our highest priorities.
“We will continue to provide updates as and when appropriate.”
