Electric vehicle battery health enhanced with SVA deal

Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA) has appointed Generational as its electric vehicle battery health check partner as it campaigns for a new remarketing industry standard in this area.

Generational, which was selected following a formal tender, produces report which provide an OEM state of health for the battery in addition to measuring the voltage balance across battery cells as well as providing a real-world range estimate for each vehicle.

Alex Wright, SVA’s managing director, said: “We reviewed the market and Generational stood out not just in the data it was able to provide but its overall proposition worked well and provided value for money.

“They are a British company with a British based team with an automotive software and data science background gained in Formula 1 and from working at Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge.”

He continued: “I want to open up our battery health check methodology to the industry. Our aim is to support anyone who wants to know more about how these checks work and their benefit to vendors and buyers. We want to help support the remarketing industry in creating a new standard in this area.”

EV transparency

Oliver Phillpott, Generational’s CEO and co-founder, said:

“We’re here to help eliminate uncertainty and enable people to buy and sell used EVs with transparency. That protects residual values for vendors and helps buyers educate consumers. The checks build trust with wholesale and consumer buyers which is only going to support EVs as they become an integral part of the used vehicle ecosystem.”
