Electric light commercial vehicle sales to surge in 2026
Electric light commercial vehicle sales are predicted to rise by 50% during 2026, according to new analysis from DriveElectric.
It predicts that around 45,000 electric LCVs will be sold during the year, up from 30,169 registrations in 2025.
It attributes this rise to new models entering the market offering real-world ranges in excess of 200 miles.
Meanwhile, DriveElectric also expects new electric car sales to reach 580,000 in 2026, accounting for 29% of the new car market. It says growth will be driven by cheaper models entering the market, government subsidies such as the Electric Car Grant, and substantial manufacturer discounts.
Electric vans
Adam Kemp, partnerships director, DriveElectric, said: “There are a range of factors which will provide the opportunity for increasing numbers of motorists to make the switch to EVs in 2026, including the Electric Car Grant, continued incentives for fleet customers, interest rates reducing, and an extremely competitive EV market space offering more affordable models with longer driving ranges.
“But it’s electric vans that promise to be the really interesting story in 2026, with our forecasts showing a 50% increase in registrations, thanks to longer driving ranges and more affordable pricing for new models.”
