Demand for used hybrid vehicles hits new high
Demand for used hybrid vehicles hit a new high in January, with 36,832 sales during the month.
According to data from Marketcheck, this is up from 24,736 in December and 29,405 in the same month last year.
It is also an increase on the previous high sales total of 32,750 registered last July.
The figures continue a longer trend of rising demand for used hybrids, with monthly sales in 2023 between 13,000 and 17,000 on average. That rose to around 25,000 sales a month in the second half of 2024 and then again to more than 30,000 in the last six months of 2025.
Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, said: “January 2026 marks a landmark moment for the used hybrid market, with sales reaching their highest level on record. This continued growth shows that hybrids are becoming an increasingly popular choice for UK drivers.
“For many buyers, hybrids offer a practical middle ground, delivering improved efficiency and lower emissions while retaining the familiarity and convenience of traditional petrol engines.
“As affordability and availability continue to improve, hybrids are now firmly established as a major force in the UK’s used car market.”
