Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery reports rising sales

Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery recorded a record month of sales in the UK in August with 2,380 new registrations.

The uptick in sales saw the brand increase its UK market share to 2.53%.

Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) models accounted for two out of every three registrations, underlining strong demand for electrified powertrains. CSH plug-in hybrids combine all-electric running for day-to-day journeys with the petrol engine for longer trips.

Farrell Hsu, managing director at Chery UK, said: “August was another record month for us. Achieving a market share of 2.53% in the UK reflects not only strong customer demand, but also the time and investment we’ve made in ensuring that customer service and aftersales care are exceptional too – as we’ve demonstrated with the recent upgrades to our seven-year vehicle warranty.

“I’m also very proud of the contribution that the UK has made to Chery Group’s continued worldwide growth. Between January and August, the company exported more than 1.3 million vehicles, which represents incredible growth of 68.1% year-on-year. And to date, Chery Group has exported more than seven million vehicles in total, becoming the first Chinese manufacturer to do so.”
