Auto Trader unveils AI-driven search solution

Auto Trader has launched a new AI-driven search solution to help car buyers more quickly find the models right for them.

Its new ‘I’m looking for’ category allows customers to refine searches using ‘natural, real-world descriptions.’

The development is in response to the growing number of new brands entering the UK market, meaning many car buyers begin their search without knowing what make or model they are looking.

However, by using common terms such as ‘first car’ or ‘sports car’, driver are able to find suitable options without having to know industry jargon.

Increase in choice

Karolina Edwards-Smajda, chief product officer, said: “With huge increase in choice entering the market, in terms of make, model, and fuel-type, the early stages of car buying can be overwhelming.

“We aren’t just giving consumers new buttons to click; we’re leveraging our deep data infrastructure and AI capabilities to fundamentally change how vehicles are discovered.

“By intelligently matching stock to the natural language buyers actually use, we are delivering a significantly smarter, more enjoyable search experience that connects our retailer partners’ stock with more informed and high-intent buyers.”
