Used electric vehicles now fastest-selling fuel type

Used electric vehicles became the fastest-selling fuel type in the UK’s second hand market for the first time ever.

Indicata’s latest Market Watch report found that the Nissan Leaf was the UK’s fastest-selling used car in October (21.1 days), closely followed by the VW ID.3 (21.7 days) and the Tesla Model Y (22.3 days).

Dean Merritt, Indicata UK’s head of sales, said: “EVs have gradually become even better value during 2025, and this has contributed to an increased demand at a pace which is outweighing all other fuel types.

“It will be interesting to see whether the UK market is now able to establish a sustainable value structure for electrified vehicles.

“Overall, the UK used market is now becoming more competitive as dealers fight for sales against the background of economic uncertainty. Dealers are having to adopt sharper pricing strategies to create demand as borrowing rates remain high.”
