Used electric vehicle sales set August record
August set a new monthly record for used electric vehicle sales, according to new data published by Marketcheck.
It has analysed the total number of used electric vehicles sold between May 2023 and August 2025, and found that 22,200 used EVs were sold month, making it the highest monthly total during the two years.
The monthly total was also an increase of 47% on August 2024, with an extra 7,118 units sold compared to the same month last year.
Marketcheck has also been recording the average last listed price each month and reported that values have fallen by nearly 10% in the last two years, which equates to £2,414.94.
Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, said: “August 2025 has delivered another record for the UK used EV market, with 22,200 vehicles sold, the highest monthly total we’ve ever recorded, underlining just how quickly the market is developing.
“At the same time, the average price of a used EV has dropped by nearly 10%, making them more affordable and accessible to a wider range of buyers. As prices fall and volumes rise, used EVs are fast becoming a core part of the UK’s second-hand vehicle landscape.”
