Used electric car prices at a ‘turning point’

Average used electric car prices have fallen by more than £2,000 in six months, according to data released by Marketcheck.

It found that the average last listed price of a used electric car sold in the UK was £24,373.81 in March, but by August that had come down by £2,211.79 to £22,162.02.

However, between August and October the average price of a used electric car rose again, increasing by £1,359 to £23,521.

Alastair Campbell head of Marketcheck UK said: “After a prolonged period of falling prices, we’re now seeing the first signs that the cost of a used electric car may be starting to climb once again.

“Between August and October, average prices rose by over £1,300, a sharp shift following several months of steady decline. This could mark a turning point for the used electric vehicle market.

“With demand remaining strong and supply tightening in some areas, price increases may become more common heading into 2026. For drivers considering the switch to electric, now could be the time to act before prices begin to firm up further.”
