Used car market sees Tesla influx

Used Tesla sales are flooding the UK used car market, with sales up 112% in February compared to the same month in 2024.
According to Marketcheck, 2,690 used Teslas were sold in February making it the highest amount in a single month since the brand was first introduced to the UK market.
This backs up previous data released by Auto Trader, which reported that 4,822 used Teslas were advertised on its platform last month, which is a 36% increase from December and 70% up on the same month in 2024.
Marketcheck analysis revealed that of the four Tesla models, the Model 3 has been the most popular, accounting for more than 70% of the brand’s sales in all but two months since May 2023 (68.53% in July 2023 and 69.3% December 2024), while Model Y sales have risen from five per cent to 21% last month.
However, the Model X has seen its proportion of sales fall from 11% in May 2023 to 3.5%, while Model S sales have dropped from 13% to five per cent over the same period.
Alastair Campbell from Marketcheck UK, said:
“These figures indicate that as the supply of company car Teslas hit the used market there is strong demand in the UK used car market. These numbers only have room to continue increasing as company car owners and salary sacrifice cars come through the auctions.”
