Switch Car Rentals appoints Fleet Assist as SMR partner

Switch Car Rentals has appointed Fleet Assist as its service, maintenance and repair network partner to support its 85 locations and over 25,000 strong fleet of cars and vans.
The multi-year deal will see Fleet Assist provide all SMR services to Switch from its network of 5,200 workshops and nearly 500 mobile service vans.
As part of the agreement Fleet Assist’s Service Booking Lite (SB Lite) platform has been rolled out to its in-house team to support triage and booking, while Fleet Assist’s Paybill service consolidates all SMR spend into one invoice.
Grant Capel, Switch’s head of fleet operations, said: “We operate one of the youngest rental fleets in the UK, made up of low mileage vehicles, so it’s important we keep them in top condition. Partnering with the Fleet Assist garage network helps us do just that. The business intelligence provided by their Atlas system has been a real game-changer. It is particularly powerful when garages are accommodating our larger LCVs and minibuses.”
Vehicle availability
He continued: “Fleet Assist’s Balanced Scorecard system also ensures garages are continually monitored, with their capabilities maintained and recorded, which provides peace of mind that we are working with a best-in-class garage network partner. This allows us to maximise our vehicle availability.”
Garry Winckley, Fleet Assist’s business development director, added: “We have worked very closely over a period of a few months to finetune the setup of SB Lite for the Switch contact team. The roll out of the new SMR processes to the rental network has gone smoothly and they are already benefitting from greater SMR efficiencies and vehicle availability. Having access to a full data reporting suite also ensures greater transparency of the fleet’s SMR needs moving forward.”
