They will now receive a bonnet to transform their concepts into full-scale artworks, which will be judged by a panel of industry leaders, including Bodyshop Magazine editor Simon Wait, Morelli Group brand development manager Michael Massey, The Specky Painter Craig Bourke, and refinish professional Tom Evans.

The winner will be announced live at the event, with The National Paint Champion invited to attend Automechanika Frankfurt next year to compete to become world champion.

Meanwhile, this year also features a People’s Choice Award, giving members of the public the opportunity to vote for their own favourite.

Joanne Knowles, event director at Messe Frankfurt UK, organisers of Automechanika Birmingham, said:

“We were blown away by the quality and imagination of this year’s entries. Narrowing it down was no easy task. We’re wishing those shortlisted the best of luck and we’re excited to see the finalists’ visions brought to life on the show floor.”
