Most reliable popular cars ranked
The most reliable popular cars in the UK have been ranked across four key metrics.
Temporary car insurance experts at Tempcover considered the most popular UK cars on repair frequency, owner satisfaction, average repair costs and reliability ratings.
The most reliable car assessed was the Toyota Yaris, which scored 7.7 out of 10. Its top rank was based largely on strong repair and reliability ratings of 9.1 and 93.5% respectively.
In second place was the Volvo XC40, which scored 7.7 out of 10 overall and had the highest independent repair rating of 9.5 with the lowest average repair cost of £285.
The Ford Fiesta completed the top three with a score of 7.1/10, while the lowest ranked model was the Nissan Juke. It received the lowest overall reliability score of 1.3 with average repair costs of £911.64.
Average values
In terms of average second-hand prices, the Ford Fiesta was cheapest at £4,695, ahead of the Ford Focus, while the Volkswagen Tiguan had the highest used-car price at £28,399.
