Most reliable light commercial vehicles revealed

New data from Warranty Solutions Group has revealed the most reliable light commercial vehicles on the market.
Based on 1,000 light commercial vehicle claims last year, it found that the Renault Master was the most reliable van with a claim rate of just 4.55%.
The most common claims for the Renault Master were starter motors/solenoids, Adblue pumps and turbochargers.
Meanwhile, the second most reliable van was the Vauxhall Combo Cargo with a claims rate of 10.86%. Its most common issues were Adblue injectors, turbochargers and DPFs.
In third place was the Mercedes Sprinter with a claim rate of 11.20%, with its most common issues being alternators, starter motors/solenoids and Nox sensors.
Vehicle downtime
Mark Bobbins, head of commercial vehicle sales at WSG, said: “For businesses that rely on LCVs—such as couriers, tradespeople, and service providers—vehicle downtime directly impacts revenue. Reliable vans and pickups ensure seamless operations, reducing the risk of missed deliveries, project delays, or lost contracts.”
Bobbins continued:
“Our findings highlight the real cost of breakdowns, not just in terms of parts and repairs, but also in vehicle downtime, lost productivity, and delivery disruption. Frequent breakdowns not only lead to costly repairs but also disrupt schedules, requiring businesses to rent replacement vehicles.
“Reliability in the LCV market isn’t just about keeping vehicles on the road, it’s a key driver of business success. From cost savings to brand reputation, operational efficiency, and compliance, investing in dependable vehicles is a strategic decision that impacts the bottom line.”
