Ford Transit accounts for seven per cent of diagnostic jobs

New data has revealed that the Ford Transit accounted for one in 14 diagnostic jobs across the UK in August and September.

This is according to Repairify’s inaugural Risk Report, which examined operational patterns from diagnostic jobs across the UK repair sector.

It found that the Ford Transit made up seven per cent of all diagnostic jobs during the two-month period, followed by the Nissan Qashqai at three per cent and the Kia Sportage at two per cent.

Meanwhile, the data also underscored how ADAS technology is reshaping vehicle repair with camera calibration emerging as the second most requested service, behind only fleet post-repair verification scans.

Nearly every windscreen replacement on modern vehicles now requires safety-critical recalibrations, and while glass specialists carry out most of these bodyshops are increasingly expected to deliver this service.

Five most common scans:

  • fleet post-repair verification
  • camera calibration
  • standard remote diagnostic jobs
  • initial fault code diagnostic reports
  • private fleet verification

Mohamed Ahmed, data analyst at Repairify, said: “Seeing seven per cent of all diagnostic work concentrated on a single vehicle model demonstrates the impact the Transit has had on UK fleets.

“It’s a real workhorse of a vehicle but while it is known for reliability, no vehicle is 100% protected against diagnostics issues. Fortunately, the majority are low impact and our specialist team is able to successfully resolve them for our customers with no issues.”
