Ford Fiesta the UK’s most stolen car for fourth year

DVLA data has revealed that the Ford Fiesta was the most stolen car in the UK last year.
Analysis of the data carried out by motor insurer tempcover found that 4,446 Fiestas were stolen last year, which equates to 12 a day.
The Fiesta was also the most stolen car in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Golf was the second most stolen car last year with 1,727 thefts, slightly ahead of the Ford Focus (1,700).
Encouragingly though, the top three stolen vehicles all saw significant reductions in thefts from 2023 to 2024, with the Fiesta down 25.6%, the Golf down 15.3% and the Focus falling 19.8%.
In fact, thefts of eight of the 10 most popular cars among thieves saw a reduction in numbers, with the Toyota RAV4 seeing thefts up 7.8% to 1,260 units and the Nissan Juke seeing a sharp rise of 61.5% to 1,027.
In total, the DVLA reported that 53,955 stolen cars were reported by the police last year, down 16% on the 64,087 reported in 2023.
