Fix Auto UK in running for national mental health award

Fix Auto UK has been shortlisted for a national mental health award in a unique programme which recognises organisations, initiatives, and individuals who champion mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The network, which now falls under the banner of being part of the Advantage Group of Companies, has been named as a finalist alongside industry giants Air Canada and Sky for the best diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) for Mental Health Strategy in the 2025 InsideOut Awards.

Fix shortlisted for mental health award

This year’s event has attracted more than 1,500 nominations across 30-plus+ categories, all celebrating ways in which successful organisations engage and empower mental health support.

Being shortlisted “affirms Fix Auto UK’s commitment to supporting the head office and franchise partners and their employees’ mental wellbeing through its pro-active and inclusive approach”, the company said in a statement.

Fix Auto UK has been nominated for its in-house Mental Health First Aiders training course lead by regional business development manager Carl Norton. Launched during the summer of 2022, the network initially aimed to have at least two qualified mental health first aiders trained per repair centre, as officially recognised by Mental Health England. The programme has since been extended to include every member of its head office team and those representing its sister organisations.

Notable success

To date, nearly 200 individuals have successfully undertaken the two-day course provided free of charge by Fix Auto UK.

Other notable organisations named as finalists spanning a variety of categories include several NHS Trusts, Nando’s, HSBC Bank, BAE Systems, the Financial Times, Coca Cola, Nationwide and Experian.

Ian Pugh named MD of newly formed Advantage Group of Companies - Fix Auto up for mental health award

Ian Pugh, group managing director, said as it was announced Fix Auto UK is up for the national mental health award:

“We are incredibly honoured to be finalist in such a vital category alongside Air Canada and Sky. Being recognised for an award such as this, by an organisation of this calibre, outside of the vehicle repair industry is yet another proud moment for the group and a new chapter in our constant development.

“Credit must be given to Carl Norton who came to me with an idea which he firmly believed would bring wholesale benefits to every Fix Auto UK repair centre and our organisation. Mental health support and learning is crucial both in and out of the workplace and I’m extremely proud that our commitment has been nationally recognised.”

The InsideOut 2025 Awards winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 12 June.
