EV rentals rise dramatically at Europcar Mobility Group

EV rentals have skyrocketed at Europcar Mobility Group UK in the last year, with electric and hybrid vehicle rental days surging from 2023 to 2024.
It has reported that in the UK it recorded 228,000 rental days for EVs and hybrids in 2023, rising to 1,241,000 last year.
Europcar, which introduced price parity on electric car and van rental rates for business account customers in April, also increased its electrified fleet in 2024, with 14% of its cars now fully electric or plug-in hybrid.
Meanwhile, the company has also increased its use of electric cars and e-bikes to support its Deliver & Collect service.
Using electric vehicles to drive 1,090,500 miles when delivering and collecting rental vehicles enabled Europcar to save 78,516Kg CO2 in 2024, while the use of e-bikes by Deliver & Collect hikers saved 2,016Kg CO2.
Tom Middleditch, head of electric mobility at Europcar Mobility Group UK, said: “At Europcar we are fully committed to helping fleets reduce their environmental impact by enabling them to access a range of electric car and van options.
“2024 saw us take some exciting strides forward on this journey, meeting important milestones and breaking new ground in the vehicle rental industry.
“For 2025 and beyond, we will continue increasing the proportion of electric and hybrid vehicles on our fleet and find new ways to support business and leisure customers to make the transition to low and ultimately zero tailpipe emission rental.”
